First things first, let’s recap the results from last weekend’s events!

In Blankenberge, Belgium, Team Great Britain won the 12th annual Easter Wheelchair Basketball tournament with a perfect 4-0 record! The squad clinched the title in their final game with a comfortable 15 point win over Spain, as Phil Pratt was named to the tournament all-star team. Australia won 3 games in a row to finish second after an early loss to Great Britain, and Japan took third place.

In Canton, Massachusetts, the Boston Brakers were winners at the Cheuchi Challenge Cup, beating out three other New England Powerchair Soccer clubs. The Brakers started off with two wins, needing a very late winner to defeat hosts PRHC Chariots 1-0 before downing the Vermont Chargers 7-1. They finished the day with a thrilling 4-4 draw with runners-up Northeast Passage Wildcats. The Wildcats came back from two goal deficits twice in the match, but it wasn’t enough as the Brakers won the trophy on goal difference.

Finally at the Para Ice Hockey World Championship in Gangneung, South Korea, the gold medal game is set as defending champions USA will battle Canada for the World Championship on Thursday. The United States won the preliminary round game between the two rivals 2-1, but both teams will feel like they can win in what’s sure to be an exciting final! Now, on to the upcoming weekend! The USQRA Wheelchair Rugby National Championships start this morning at Ability 360 Sports and Fitness Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The top 16 teams in the country will compete through Saturday for national championships in Division I and Division II. Top seeded hosts 360 Heat will look to use their home court advantage to keep the trophy in Phoenix, but they will face stiff competition from the likes of American Paralympic star Chuck Aoki‘s Minnesota Steelheads and Canadian national teamer Zak Madell‘s Medstar Punishers. Then on Saturday and Sunday, RISE Adaptive Sports will host the WCMX (Wheelchair Motocross) World Championships in Grand Prairie, Texas! Athletes from around the world will compete in WCMX Beginner, Intermediate, Women’s and Pro divisions, as well as Adaptive Skate. RISE Adaptive Sports will provide a live stream of the event, starting at 10:30 am Central Time with opening ceremonies.
